Watson 19 March 1944 - 18 February 1997  Michael Don "Mike" Watson (aka "Mousie") passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2012 at Carrus Hospital. He was born May 6, 1948 in McKinney, Texas, son of Vernon Leon Watson and Wanda Imogene Meadows Escalera. He graduated from Gunter High School. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jerry Wayne Watson, Larry Duane Watson, and Gary Brent Watson. He is survived by his daughter, Detra Gaines and husband, Greg, of Gunter; son, James Watson and wife, Brandi, of Tioga; son, Ramsey Watson and wife, Lindsey, of Gunter; mother of his children, Dyann Barrett Clay; grandchildren: Ambery Byley & Clint of Norman, Oklahoma; Austin Gaines; Ethan, Bailey, Rylee and Hadlee Watson, all of Gunter, great-grandchildren: Case and Royce Byley; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mike worked for Hale Trailers in Sherman, Texas and Crookham & Vessels, Inc. He also worked for Barrett Supermarket in Van Alstyne and owned and operated Mike Watson Trucking. Mike enjoyed fishing and team roping. One of Mike's greatest achievements was winning a roping and matching saddles with his son, James, several years ago. Mike enjoyed sports and followed his favorite college and NFL teams. Mike helped Ramsey and James in their businesses, driving a truck and operating heavy equipment until his health began to fail. On his good days, he still enjoyed joking around and fishing with his kids and grandkids. A memorial graveside service was held Wednesday morning, September 20, 2023 in the Gunter Cementery, Gunter, Grayson Co., Texas.
