  Carl Ray Thomas 21 October 1937 - 11 November 2006 Joan Allene Thomas 28 September 1939 - 6 March 2017 wed 8 July 1958   Carl Ray Thomas 21 October 1937 - 11 November 2006 SP4 US Army  Gunter - Texas - Joan Allene (Tucker) Thomas, 77, of Flower Mound passed away March 6, 2017. She was laid to rest at the Gunter Cemetery Saturday, March 18, 2017. Joan was born September 28, 1939 in Caddo, Oklahoma; her family moved to Celina, Texas when Joan was 14 years old. She married Carl Ray Thomas in Durant, Oklahoma on July 8, 1958 after only dating him for six weeks. He was on leave from the Army, so she immediately packed up and moved to Ft. Benning, Georgia where Carl was stationed. They returned to Celina after his discharge in 1959. Joan worked for the US Postal Service, where she retired in 1999. She and Carl enjoyed their retirement in Gunter where he had built their dream home. After Carl passed away, Joan moved to Sherman for a short time and then to Flower Mound, closer to her daughter's family. Joan is survived by daughter, Sheila Beau Moon of Highland Village, Texas and son, Don and Paula Thomas of Winnsboro. Her grandchildren: Jordan Moon, Kasey Thomas, Taylor Moon and Ryan Moon. Her six siblings and spouses: Emma Jackson of Gunter; Roy Vest of Calera, Oklahoma; Rilda and Lynn Jackson of Calera, Oklahoma; Elaine and Ronnie O'Dell of Caney, Oklahoma; Jackie and Kathy Vest of Caney, Oklahoma; Rick and Judy Vest of Caney, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years; their infant son, Gary Lynn; her mother, Mary Allene Vest; step-dad, Haskell Vest; grandmother, Luaena "Lucy" Ann Minks Tucker and grandfather, James William Tucker.
