Mrs. Scharr, 69, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020 at the Homestead in Sherman. Brenda was born January 20, 1951 in Sherman, daughter of Henry Lee Scharff and Louella Logston Scharff. After graduating college she dedicated 30 years of her life to Scharff Crane, the family business. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was very proud that her father was a founding member. She will be remembered for her kind, generous heart, her infectious laugh, her love of the Lord, her forever positive outlook on life, her deep love for her only grandchild, and her devotion to her dogs. Mrs. Scharff is survived by her son, Jarod Saye and his wife, Amy; and one granddaughter, Harper Saye, of Celina. She was preceded in death by her parents. - - -Waldo Funeral Home  The Herald Democrat June 13, 2013 SHERMAN – Services for Henry Lee Scharff will be held 10 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 at the Trinity Luther Church with Pastor Craig Sturm officiating. Pallbearers will be Tommy Bateman, George Crocker, David Bentsen, Les Vance, Jay Watkins and James Hazelwood. Mr. Scharff passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital-WNJ. Waldo Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Henry was born on June 28, 1920 at the east side of the Kimberlin Ranch, near Gunter. He graduated from Range Creek School and Gunter High School in 1936 with honors, Draughons Commercial College and Newark Diesel Institute. Henry married Louella Logston of Whitesboro in 1943. She preceded him in death in 1998. They had one daughter, Brenda of Sherman. At the beginning of Henry's career, along with farming and ranching, he was an instructor in auto mechanics and diesel mechanics for Grayson County Vocational School. He became Service Manager for B.F. Goodrich then on to being Line Chief for the U. S. Civil Service at Perrin Field in Sherman. He later served in the U.S. Air Force as Line Chief and flew as an Aerial Engineer in A-26 & B-25 Bombardment aircraft. Henry was responsible for keeping all aircraft in operational status. In 1951, he went to work for McGraw-Edison, Inc., (Line Material), in Sherman. In 1973, he was promoted to Plant Manager of this Division. He then owned and operated Tires Wholesale, Inc., for several years. He later became Vice President at Crookham and Vessels, Inc. In 1981, Henry and Louella began their own company, Scharff Crane Rental, Inc. He later sold the company to Crocker Crane of Irving, Texas, but remained on as Manager. In 2008, Davis Crane acquired Crocker Crane and Scharff Crane as well. Henry continued as Manager until his death. Henry was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a lifetime member of Texas Association of Business, Toastmaster's Club, Board of Directors of the Howe State Bank, Board of Directors of Grayson County Center for Crippled Children and Adults and the Gunter Chamber of Commerce, and the NRA. In 2003, Henry was voted "Outstanding Citizen of the Year" by the Gunter Chamber of Commerce. Henry actively maintained his family farm in Gunter all his life. He loved raising cattle and all aspects of farming. He was blessed with lots of help through the years by many wonderful friends; Gary Morrison and wife Rosie, of Celina, Carl Thomas (deceased) and wife Joan of Gunter, The Forrister Family, Truit, Jenny, Stephanie and Andrew, as so many more through the years. Henry was an incredibly hard worker all his life. His roots were in his boots and he had callouses in too many places to count. He hooked up his team before breakfast and was in the field by day break. His view every day was the back end of mules until his father bought their first tractor in 1935. Henry was built out of iron and steel and big heavy rebar but mostly love. He had grit and determination until the very end. There are no more fields to plow, clods to break up or livestock to feed. He always said "At the end of life all we have are our memories, and mine will always be good ones." Henry was always available to help anyone with anything. Nothing thrilled him more than giving a Silver Dollar to any child out celebrating their birthday or special occasion. To see their eyes light up was a look he treasured. Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Louella Scharff; his parents, Wena and Bill Scharff; all his aunts and uncles, and two of his best friends, Doyal Mulder and Carl Thomas. Henry is survived by his daughter, Brenda Scharff, of Sherman; grandson, Jarod T. Saye, his wife Amy, of McKinney; and one great-granddaughter, Harper, all of whom he adored. His special friends, Sherrill Snider of Sherman, Rosie and Gary Morrison of Celina; the Truit Forrister family of Gunter; Joyce and George Crocker of Fairfield; Rosemary Mulder of Sherman; special cousins, Carol and Bob Moore, of Luella, Putzie Stanhope of Stamford, Phyllis Faulkner and husband Richard, of Marlow, Okla., Dorothy and L. E. Reast of Longview, Lujuanna (Scharff) Daigle and husband George of Vernon, Mary and Larry Jack Scharff, of Independence, Mo., Lucille Hiett of Longview, Ted Connally, of Stamford, Mrs. Ann (B.G.) Schumacher, of Norman, Okla., Mrs. Clara Logston, of Colbert, Okla., Mrs. Billy Logston of Douglass, Kan., Kimberly (Moore) Wright and husband Justin and daughter Kaitlyn of Midlothian, Texas, Cheri Webb of College Station, Janet (Reast) Copeland and husband Glen of White Oak, Les Vance and wife Carolyn of North Richland Hills, Vickie (Vance) Arnold of Plano, Texas and many nieces and nephews.
