Block 10 July 1920 - 8 June 1975 PFC US Marine Corps The Herald Democrat September 9, 2010 Aver Alice was born April 10, 1922 to her wonderful parents, Clyde and Ruth Hasley in Gunter. She married the love of her life, Luie Lee Block, September 7, 1941. When he joined the Marines, she followed him until he was sent to Germany. Returning to Gunter, they owned and operated a grocery store. Luie went to meet his Lord and Savior in 1975. She was predeceased in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters. Aver's love of life and genuine care and concern for others spread a contagious joy that blessed everyone she knew. There was no greater happiness for her than to be surrounded by her treasured family and friends. As an Aunt, she inspired strength and resiliency of spirit. She had a special love for her nieces and nephews, some she helped raise. As a friend, she tended many with her generous spirit and hospitality. She worked for the Texans Credit Union for 30 years. She will be missed greatly by her family and many friends. She is survived by her sisters Elizabeth Lawler of Carrollton and Ruth Lee of Farmers Branch; nephews and nieces, Mike, Byron and Shirley Umphress, Guy Sam Hasley, David Hasley, Ellen Hasley Harris, Paula Hasley Leimer of Garland, Raymond Pistol of Las Vegas, Nev., Rhonda Lukie, Mike Rutherford of Denton, and Betty Lynn of Las Vegas, Nev.; and several great-nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are her great-nephews, Adam and Bryan Hasley, Jeroed Leimer, Christopher, Zackary and Jonathon Harris. Honorary pallbearers are John David Hasley and Justin Leimer. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at North Dallas Funeral Home. Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. at Gunter Cemetery in Gunter.
