Thursday, August 14, 1941 pg. 4 WOMAN IS KILLED WHEN CAR PLOWS THROUGH BRIDGE Sherman, Texas, Aug. 14 - Mrs. Mary B. Mathews, 87-year-old Collinsville resident, died Wednesday afternoon at Sherman hospital of injuries sustained when an automobile in which she was a passenger plowed through a bridge railing west of Gunter earlier in the day. The car was driven by her daughter, Mrs. W.S. Sanders of the Ethel community, with whom she made her home. It was reported that the road was slick from recent rains and that the car skidded off the bridge and then dropped 15' to the creek bottom. Mrs. Mathews received severe head injuries. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Gunter Baptist church with Dr. J.A. Ellis of Sherman and Rev. Clyde Beck of Ethel officiating. Burial will be in Gunter. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Sanders; 2 sons, J.I. and Louis Mathews of Sherman; a sister, Mrs. R.J. Hanning of Collinsville; a brother, W.H.
