MARGUERITE ANDERSON
Gunter - Services for Marguerite Lucille Anderson, 77, of Gunter,
were held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Gunter Baptist Church. She died
Friday, April 12, 1996, at her residence.
Scott Jordan and Dennis Garner officiated, with burial in Gunter
Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Flesher Funeral Home in
Van Alstyne.
Mrs. Anderson was born May 26, 1918, in Sherman, the daughter of
H.A. Ivy and Myrtle Travis Ivy. She graduated from Sherman High School
at the age of 16 and from Austin College at 19. She was a music major.
She married Marshall "Shorty" Anderson on December 24, 1940, at her
mother's house in Sherman.
Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Gunter Baptist Church where she
had been the organist since January of 1954. Prior to that, she was
organist at the First Baptist Church of Sherman.
She taught school in Dorchester and Gunter from 1938 to 1984.
Surviving are her husband, Marshall "Shorty" Anderson of Gunter;
sons, Marshall Lee Anderson of Dallas and James Richard Anderson of Gunter;
six grandchildren, Michael Riley of Celina, Kristy Dawn Anderson of Gunter,
Michelle Anderson of Austin, James Marshall Anderson of Houston, Courtney
Anderson of Dallas and Shannon Clayton of Denison; one great-grandchild,
Stephanie Dawn Riley of Celina;sisters, Frances Johnson and Naomi Green,
both of Sherman, and Carol Dawson of Ola, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by a brother, H.A. Ivey, Jr., and daughter,
Andrea Clayton.
Pallbearers were Michael Riley, George Woodruff, Denny Brackeen,
Wade McClusky, Wayne Kyle and Don Dickey.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Gunter, or
