Sunday, April 19, 1904 pg. 4 Uncle Jesse Newton, a very frequent visitor to Denison, died Tuesday at his home in Gordonville of dropsy. He was about 78 years old, and Grayson county had been his home for the last 30 years. He was born in St. Clair county Alabama and came to Texas about 1869, locating at Sherman where he lived for 10 years. He then moved to Gordonville and that place has since been his home. Uncle Jesse's wife and 3 children survive him. The children are Mrs. W.B. Munson of Denison; Chas. J. Newton of Terrell; and Miss Jessie Newton, living at the family home.
