William R. Stratton 1882 - 1938 The Denison Press Friday, November 11, 1938 W.R. Stratton Dies Suddenly Near Denison William Robert Stratton, 56, died suddenly at noon yesterday in the Calamus community, 8 miles southeast of Denison, where he was employed on a WPA road building project. He had complained to fellow workmen of feeling slightly ill before noon, and died suddenly at 12:30. Mr. Stratton was born in Bowling Green, Kentucky, March 14, 1882. He came to Preston Bend with his family as a young child and was reared and educated there, coming to Denison 30 years ago. He was a barber and an insurance agent and was a member of the Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Georgetown Cemetery. Rev. Ray Short of Pottsboro officiating. Short-Murray directed. He is survived by 2 sisters, Mrs. W.E. Abshire of Ft. Smith, Arkansas; and Mrs. Houston Davenport of Bowling Green; one niece, Mrs. T.E. Watson of Denison and 4 grandchildren.
