Friday, April 7, 1950 pg.8 Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Georgetown cemetery for Mrs. Joe Ella Steel, 83 years of age, of Sherman, mother of Mrs. D.S. Fawcett of Denison. Officiating ministers were Rev. Rat Short and Rev. R.M. Williams of Sherman. Bratcher-Moore was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Steel had lived in Sherman at 1016 Thomas avenue for 8 years. She had been ill 3 weeks. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, December 4,1866, Mrs. Steel was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Goodale, and came to Texas with her parents at an early age. She was educated in Waco, and Preston Bend schools. She was married at Georgetown in 1885 to the late Wm. W. Steel [sic] who died in 1945 [sic]. She is survived by 4 daughters, Mrs. Fawcett of Denison; Mrs. L.D. Gudgel, Mrs. W.R. Jones and Miss Addie Steel, all of Sherman; and 4 grandchildren.
