   Dan Moody Shaw, Sr. 5 September 1926 - 3 July 2012 Catherine Ellavia Shaw 2 February 1929 - 21 April 1986  wed 6 December 1945   The Herald Democrat July 6, 2012 BELLS - Dan Moody Shaw went home to his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 3, 2012. Born in Ardmore, Okla. on September 5, 1926, he was the 11th child of Jesse and Bessie (Martin) Shaw. At 17, Dan served his country in the Pacific during World War II. After the war he met and married his first wife, Catherine Jones. Dan met and then married Joan Stanley in May 1987. They celebrated their 25th anniversary on May 8 of this year. He served the City of Sherman as a fireman for 38 years, from 1954 until his retirement in 1992. Dan also owned his own electrical contracting company for 40 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rites. He attended Calvary Baptist Church of Sherman. Dan was an incredible husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Dan is survived by his wife, Joan; son, Dennis Stanley of Dallas; daughters, Renee Johnson of Chetopa, Kan., and Alice Williams of Santa Maria, Calif.; grandsons, Hassan of Sherman, Bailey of Santa Maria, Scott of Gainesville, and BJ of Sherman; granddaughters, Sabah of California, Taylor of California, and Angela of Sherman; great-granddaughters, Trinity of Sherman (who was his pride and joy) Natalie of Sherman, Allie of Gainesville; great-grandsons, Chase, Hunter, Jacob, Kenneth, Triston, Chris, and Ronin all of Sherman; brother, Maurice of Simms; sisters-in-law, Sue of Luella, and Willie of Corpus Christi, and many nephews and nieces, all of whom he loved. Dan was loved by many and will be missed. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Catherine, son Danny, daughter Jodie, brothers Bud, Guy, Martin, Jesse (JG), Bill, and John, sisters Elizabeth, Naomie, Maggie, Neva, Jessie, and Ouita. The family will receive friends from 6 -8 p.m. on Friday at Waldo Funeral Home. Services to celebrate Dan's life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Waldo Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Maurice Shaw and Rev. Kevin Shaw officiating. Interment will follow at Georgetown Cemetery, Pottsboro, with the City of Sherman firemen serving as casket bearers. Funeral honors will be performed at the gravesite by the Sherman Fire Department Honor Guard. Services are under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home, Sherman.
