Van Eugene Scott 26 May 1921 - 2 August 2012 WWII Panama Canal Verda Ann Tudor Scott 19 November 1922 - wed 28 February 1942 POTTSBORO - Van E. Scott, 91, passed away Thursday August 2, 2012 at the Homestead of Sherman. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Monday August 6, 2012 at the Georgetown Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Hancock and Rev. Wade Smith officiating. Burial will be the Georgetown Cemetery. Van was born May 26, 1921 in Detroit, Texas to Arch and Mittie Stevens Scott. He graduated from Detroit High School and Paris Junior College. He married Verda Ann Tudor on February 28, 1942 in Paris, Texas, they were married for 70 years. He worked as a chemical plant worker in Dumas, and also worked for the Dallas Transit Authority as a bus driver from 1953 until 1981 when he retired. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the medical corps in Guam and Guadalcanal, he had a love of traveling and was a member of the Good Sam Club and Holiday Ramblers traveling clubs, loved to ride motorcycles and play games and square dance. He was member of the Georgetown Baptist Church and the American Legion Post #231. Family visitation will he held 4 - 6 p.m., Sunday at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel. Pallbearers will be Scott Gaylon, Lawrence Kennon, Jim Lyons, Jim Taylor, Tommy Densmore and Jim Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Paschal and Joe Watstoskie. Memorials may be made to Heart to Heart Home Hospice, 600 E. Taylor, Suite 3005, Sherman, TX 75090. Mr. Scott is survived by his wife Ann Scott of Sherman; son Tommy Scott and hi s wife Sharon of Pottsboro. Preceded in death by his parents, brothers and daughter-in-law Linda Scott.
