The Herald Democrat November 30, 2011 POTTSBORO - Funeral services for Billy "Bill" Edward McClain will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday December 1, at North Park Baptist Church in Sherman with Rev. Ronald Cantrell and Rev. David Murphy officiating. Burial will be at Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro with David Plyler, Jerry Collins, Ron McBride, Chip Staggs, John McDonald, and David Fletcher serving as pallbearers. Mr. McClain, 75, passed away, Monday November 28, at Medical City Hospital in Dallas. Bill was born October 26, 1936, in Bridge Creek, Okla. to the late William and Ethel (Dendy) McClain. On August 7, 1959, he and Betty Moffett were married in Hobbs. Bill served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1962, primarily in Washington DC. After his service in the Army, Mr. McClain moved to Odessa where he owned and operated several service stations and tire stores. Retiring in 1996, Bill and Betty moved to the Sherman area. Mr. McClain was an active member of the North Park Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and trustee. He was also a longtime supporter of Texas A&M University and he took great pride in the fact that all three of his children were graduates of A&M. Mr. McClain is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty of Pottsboro; two children, Dr. Lanna McClain and husband Bill Crutchfield of Ft. Worth and Landon McClain and wife Mary of El Campo, Texas; six grandchildren, Rachel and Luke Crutchfield, and Jordan, Chase, Morgan, and Sean McClain; seven siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings; and one son, Gregg McClain. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m., Wednesday at Waldo Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Park Baptist Church Building Fund at 2605 Rex Cruise Drive, Sherman, TX., 75092.
