POTTSBORO - It is with the utmost sorrow that the family of
Pauline Atwell Ledbetter of Pottsboro announces her sudden passing on Monday, April 28, 2008 at
the age of 86 years. She will forever and profoundly be missed by her family
and friends.
Pauline was born on Feb. 10, 1922 in Clovis,
N.M. She was the eldest and only
daughter of six children born to Nolan and Claudia Atwell. On Oct. 11, 1941. She married
Robert "Bob" Ledbetter in Clovis,
New Mexico. Together they raised
two devoted children on their farm in Portales,
N.M. She later received a degree
in nursing after moving to McKinney.
She had an extraordinary natural gift of drawing and
painting. She created numerous pieces capturing her love of nature and its
quiet beauty. All who knew her would agree her paintings were a self portrait
of the person she was in life. She was kind, gentle, empathetic and gracious.
She was a quiet beauty. She was a lady.
She had a devoted love of the Lord and sought His face
daily. She clearly knew that she sat in the palm of His hand.
She will be exceedingly missed by her children, Barbara and
Mike Bishop of Pottsboro, and Bobby and Nonnie Ledbetter of Johnson City. She will also be adoringly
remembered by her grandchildren, Angela and Neale Ellis of Virginia Beach, Va.
Robert and Mary Ledbetter of Pottsboro and Michael Bishop of Sherman and by her
great-grandchildren, Rob, Brittiany and David Ledbetter of Pottsboro and
Matthew, Joshua and Sarah Ellis of Virginia Beach, Va. She will be remembered
with great admiration by her surviving brothers, David Atwell and Gene Atwell
of Roswell, N.M. and Maynard and Ruth Atwell of Seligman, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Ledbetter in October 1992;
parents, Claudia and Nola Atwell; and brothers, Austin and James Lee Atwell,
all of Clovis, N.M.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Thursday,
May 1, 2008 at Georgetown
Cemetery with Rev. Hugh
Davis officiating.
