Kennedy 27 March 1917 - 3 May 1984 Barbara Ruth Kennedy 22 November 1942 - 12 December 1942 Vera Kennedy passed away June 5, 2021. She was born October 28, 1916 in Delaware Bend, Texas, daughter of James and Clara Wallace Elliott. She was the oldest of 6 children. On June 16, 1936, Vera married the love of her life, J.W. Kennery. Together they had 5 children. Vera was a doting mother. She made all the children's clothing. Vera made sure her children knew the value of hard work and showed them great love. She had a green thumb and had flower gardens that bloomed beautiful colors every year for her family to enjoy. She was a long-time member of Denison Church of Nazarene. Vera loved her community and taking care of others. She volunteered for 33 years at Texoma Medical Center and logged in over 20,000 volunteer hours. Vera never missed a beat in her later years. She was still driving until she was 100 years old and even purchased a brand new car at 99 years old. Vera proudly lived at home, independently until she was 104 and a half years old. She was sharp minded and could tell amazing stories of the covered wagons of her past. Vera was met in heaven by her parents; husband; children, Jim and Barbara Kennedy; brothers, Wallace and Edwin Elliott; sister, Evelyn McConnell; great-grandson, Jacob Kyle; and son-in-law, Bill Cates. She is survived by her children: Kathryn Cates; Ronald Kennedy and wife, Glenda; and Rickey Kennedy; daughter-in-law, Janis Kennedy; sister, Hazel Clevis; and brother, W.W. "Bill" Elliott. Veral leaves behind 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren to cherish her memory. A funeral service was held Wednesday afternoon, June 9, 2021 at Fisher Funeral Home. Fisher Funeral Home was entrusted with the services.
