JUSTICE OF THE PEACE SHOT AT POTTSBORO
He Was Approached From Behind and Seriously Wounded by Some Unknown Person

Sherman, Texas, October 25 - Justice of the Peace Dave Harris of Pottsboro was shot 3 times last night, twice in the shoulder and once in the stomack, all 3 are serious wounds, and is now lying in a critical condition.
The facts as obtained are as follows:
Harris had started from his office to his residence, accompanie by his little boy, when about a block west of the railroad station he discovered that a man was approaching him from b ehind in a manner to create apprehension.  Harris turned upon him to inquire what he wanted, when the fellow applied a scurillous epithet, Harris struck at him with a small cane and the man fired 4 shots, 3 of which took effect as stated. Harris sank down and the man escaped in the darkness.  Harris can not give the slightest clew to the identity of his assailant and can not think of any one who would seek to thus waylay him.  Sheriff  Hughes and
Deputy Davis  have gone to Pottsboro.


TEXAS PIONEER, 94, DIES IN ARCHER

Archer City, Texas, March 24 - Mrs. M.A. Harris, 94, resident of Texas 83 years and resident of Archer County since 1922, died at her home here late Tuesday night following an illness of 6 weeks.
A native of Alabama, mrs. Harris came to Texas in 1866, traveling by boat to Galveston and by covered wagon from there to Limestone County.  She later moved to Grayson County, where she resided until shortly after her husband's death in 1900.

LIVED AT BLUEGROVE
After the death of her husband, Mrs. Harris moved to Bluegrove, in Clay County, where she resided until 1922, when she moved to Archer County.
A member of the Baptist Church approximately 70 years, Mrs. Harris had beena prominent leader in church activities until her recent illness.
Funersl services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursdya from the First Baptist Church here.  Rev. C.E. Bost, former pastor, now of Athens, Texas, will officiate.  Assisting him will be Rev. J.R. Naylor. present pastor, and Rev. Charles Hooper of Wichita Falls.

BURIAL AT POTTSBORO
Burial, under the direction of McCracken Funeral Home of Olney, will be in Georgetown Cemetery at Pottsboro, Texas.
Survivors include 4 sons, Roy Harris of Olathe, Colorado; and A.L., Dave and Claude Harris, all Archer City ranchers; a daughter, Miss Ollie Harris of Archer City; 2 brothers, Bob Chiles and Ed Chiles, both of Bluegrove; and a sister, Mrs. Lulu Copps, also of Bluegrove.
