Victor C. Shamp, born in Ionia County, Ionia, Michigan, June 15, 1928 went home to heaven on February 22, 2011 after spending three weeks at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.
Victor was a member of the Georgetown Baptist Church in Pottsboro, Texas.
Victor was preceded in death by his father, William C. Shamp; his mother, Ellen May Shamp; his brother Bud Stevens; his sister, Dora Smith; and his son, Craig J. Shamp.
Victor is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rita I. Shamp. Rita and Victor were married in Ardmore, Oklahoma on September 11, 1954. Victor was also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Barbara Johnson of Denison, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law, Theda and Charles Anderson of Pottsboro, Texas; his daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Barry Ellis of Edmond, Oklahoma. Victor had three granddaughters, Jennifer A. Hensley of Denison, Texas; Jodi L. Castelli of Denison, Texas; Nola M. Stephens of State College, Pennsylvania, and a grandson, Branson Craig Stephens of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Victor also had three grandsons of Sherman, Texas: Chad Anderson, Jason Anderson, and Josh Anderson. Victor had twelve great-grandchildren: Layne S. Hensley, Adam M., Anna J. and Aiden L. Castelli all of Denison as well as Christopher, Sarah, Jacob, Luke, Lydia, Levi, Austyn, and Madelynne Anderson all of Sherman. Victor was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. He was an anchor for his family and friends and he reflected his love and admiration for them each day of his life.
Victor served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950 to 1954. He served at Perrin Air Force Base and then left to serve two years in Guam as an aircraft instrument specialist. After his time in the Air Force, he went on to serve as a civilian aircraft mechanic at Perrin Field Air Force Base. Along with his work at Perrin Field, Victor and his wife also owned and operated a garden and landscape business, Texoma Garden Center. In 1971, along with his wife, he opened the Texoma Dairy Mart north of Pottsboro.
If you would like to make a memorial in Victor's honor, the family asks that you consider the academic scholarship that Victor named and supported, The Craig J. Shamp Memorial Physics Scholarship at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma; their recent home away from home, Reba's Ranch House of Denison, Texas; or a charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jason Anderson officiating and eulogy by Dr. David Whitlock. Interment will follow in Georgetown Cemetery with Military Honors.   Family visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2011 at Fisher Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Clement, Bun Cayton, Randy Randles, Kevin Randles, Brandon Clement, and Josh Randles. Honorary pallbearers are Walter Brown and R. Wilson Atterberry. 
Arrangements are under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, located at 604 West Main in Denison.
