Duke R. Harris 1855 - 1920 Jennie S. Harris 1862 - 1940 Sherman Daily Democrat 16 November 1920 D.R. Harris of Pottsboro Dies Early Thursday. D.R. Harris, for forty years an honored citizen of Grayson County, died at the early hour of 4:45 this morning in Sherman. He was born October 9, 1855 near Independence, Missouri. At the age of 25 years he came to Texas and settled in Pottsboro. For 38 years he has been conducting a business at that point and was engaged in the same up to his death . His acquaintances had extended its lines all over the county and he was known as an upright man. He was a member of both the Masonic and Woodmen lodges, and the latter will have charge of his funeral. He was a faithful member of the Baptist church, and his church relations came first in thoughts. Besides his widow, Mrs. Jennie S. Harris, there are left eight children. Five sons, W.E. Harris, Denison; C.H. and T.D. Harris, Ardmore, Oklahoma; D.R. Harris, Jr. and Eugene Harris, both of Pottsboro. Three daughters, Mrs. Ed Judd, Denison; Mrs. Jack Pierce, McKinney; Miss Jennie V. Harris, Denison. Each member of the family were present at his bedside when the end came. Funeral services will be conducted from the family residence at Pottsboro Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Ingram, the family pastor officiating. Burial will be at Georgetown Cemetery. Leonarda A. Harris died 27 February 1913 Aged 18 Years d/o D.R. & J.S.
