Joe Lee Wastoskie 2 June 1932 - 6 November 2013 Delores Elaine Wastoskie 12 August 1935 - wed 6 April 1957 Joe Lee Wastoskie 2 June 1932 - 6 November 2013 US Navy Korea The Herald Democrat November 8, 2013 POTTSBORO - Joe Wastoskie, 81 of Pottsboro passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, with his loving family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Georgetown Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Hancock officiating. Burial will follow in Georgetown Cemetery with Military and Masonic Honors. Family visitation will be held 5:30 -7:30 p.m. Friday at Johnson-Moore Pottsboro Chapel. Pallbearers will be Scott Galyon, Josh Roberts, Gene Roberts Jr., Dan Maher, Carl Daniel and Mark Ewig. Honorary pallbearers are Rodney Wilson, Howard Thomas, Dee Slagle and Chuck Melugin. He was born on June 2, 1932 in Pittsburg, Kan., to Joseph W. and Beulah M. Kelley Wastoskie.He graduated from Cherryvale High School where he excelled in athletics especially the football and baseball teams. He then attended and graduated from Coffeyville (Kan.) Junior College and was part of its conference championship football team in 1950 and 1951. He later married the love of his life, Delores Whitehurst on April 6, 1957 in Miami, Okla. Mr. Wastoskie retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone after 34 years of service as a repairman and technician. He was a valued employee recognized with having 32 years of perfect attendance. He was also a Navy veteran who served on the USS Boxer in the Korean War. Joe was a very talented craftsman that loved woodcrafting. As a hobby, he sold several of his pieces at Canton Trades Day. Mr. Wastoskie was a member of Georgetown Baptist Church and the George R. Reeves Masonic Lodge 396 in Pottsboro and served on the Pottsboro school board for 18 years. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Delores Wastoskie of Pottsboro; son, Billy Joe Wastoskie of Pottsboro; daughters, Jana Wastoskie of Ennis, and Eydie Roberts of Pottsboro; grandchildren, Gene Roberts Jr., Jennie Joe Roberts, and Josh Roberts; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Jacob Roberts; and his sister, Mary Arnold. Memorials may be made in his name to Georgetown Baptist Church, 207 W. Georgetown Rd. Pottsboro, TX 75076.
