MRS. SARAH MILDRED HATFIELD,  67, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.A. Parham, at Pottsboro at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday after an extended illness.  She had lived in Sherman 21 years and in Texas 43 years.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Dannel-Scott Funeral home, conducted by Rev. Hugh Bumpas, pastor of the East Sherman Baptist church.  Interment was in Georgetown cemetery, northwest of Pottsboro beside her husband, W.C. (Bll) Hatfield, who died in July, 1926.
Mrs. Hatfield was born August 1, 1869, near Campbellsville, Kentucky, the daughter of Joshua and Mary Frances Cowherd.  She came to Texas at the age of 14, living near Elmont, where she obtained her education.  She and Mr. Hatfield were married December 3, 1889, at Pottsboro.  She was a member of the East Sherman Baptist church.
Surviving relatives include 4 sons, Roy E. Hatfield of Denison; Ted C. Hatfield of Houston; Lee Hatfield of Nocona; and E.M. Hatfield of Sherman; 3 daughters, Mrs. Parham, Mrs. G.C. Hale, both of Woodville, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Lee Howdeshell of Sherman; one brother T.-. Cowherd of Denison; one sister, Mrs. W.E. Bowan of  Royse City; 30 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were grandsons: Randolph Parham, Stinson Hatfield, Sidney Hatfield, E.M. Hatfield, Jr., Roy Hatfield and Coy Hatfield.

"Death Calls W.C. Hatfield, Prominent Texas Mason Dies at Home in Sherman.
Special to the News - Sherman, Texas, July 9 - W. C. Hatfield, a resident of Grayson County all his life, and grand senior warden of the Mason Grand Lodge of Texas, died at his home here tonight at 11:10 o'clock, after an illness of seven months.
William Columbus Hatfield is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sarah Mildred Hatfield, and the following children: Mrs. L. E. Howdeshell, E. M. Hatfield and Lee Hatfield, all of Sherman; Mrs. W. A. Parham, Pottsboro; Roy E. Hatfield, Denison; Mrs. G.C. Hale, Woodville, Oklahoma; and T. C. Hatfield, Houston.  He also is survived by his aged father, E.F. Hatfield, who made his home here with his son, and two brothers and one sister. These are G.E. Hatfield, Bennington, Oklahoma; R.E. Hatfield, Aylesworth, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Tom Klinglesmith of near Durant, Oklahoma.
Mr. Hatfield, native Texan, was born May 14, 1866 in Grayson County, six miles north of Sherman, on what was known as the old Goode place. When he was 4 years old, his parents moved to Travis County, near Austin, but remained there only a year, returning to the Goode farm, where Mr. Hatfield was reared to young manhood, attending the rural schools and farming between times.
On December 3, 1889, he was married to Miss Sarah Mildred Cowherd, member of a well-known Grayson County family, and they moved to a farm near Pottsboro, Grayson County, where they resided for 34 years, rearing their family.  In 1908 he was appointed Deputy County Tax Collector, performing that duty for 8 years, when he was elected to the office, serving 4 years.  In 1916, the year he was elected County Tax Assessor, he moved with his family to Sherman, and has since resided in this city.

W.C. Hatfield Funeral Monday
Special to the News, 10 July - Sherman, Texas.  Funeral Services for W.C. Hatfield, senior warden of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas, who died at his home in Sherman shortly before midnight Friday night, were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. 
The body was taken to the Masonic Temple Saturday afternoon, where it lay in state until just before 2 pm Monday, when it was taken to the church. The services at the church were conducted by Dr. S.W. Williams, pastor, assisted by Dr. T.A. Wharton, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of this city.
The body was conveyed to Georgetown, northwest of Sherman, following the services, and at the grave the services were in charge of the grand lodge officers of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas.  The active pallbearers were R.T. Arthur, Jesse Whitehurst, J.E. Norris, A.S. Noble, Judge R.M. Carter and Floyd Everheart.  Honorary pallbearers were all the living past grand masters of the Masonic grand lodge of Texas and the members of the committee on work (sic) of the grand lodge.
The family Saturday received more than 100 messages of condolence and floral offerings have come from many outside points in Texas and Oklahoma.

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR WILLIAM C. HATFIELD.
Many Grayson county Masons gathered at the Masonic Temple here at 1 o'clock Monday afternoon to attend the funeral services of W.C. Hatfield which were held from the Travis Street Methodist church at 2 o'clock.  Mr. Hatfield died late Friday night.  He was one of the foremost workers in Masonry in Texas and was known by many members of the order over Texas.
Dr. S.W. Williams, pastor of the Travis Street Methodist church, was to conduct the services.  Dr. Wharton, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, assisted Dr. Williams.
The Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas was to be in charge of services.  Interment will be in the Georgetown cemetery northwest of Pottsboro, about 5 o'clock Monday afternoon.
