"Jim" Cook 15 April 1876 - 22 December 1960 wed 12 August 1901 JAMES JACKSON DIES AT GEORGETOWN HOME Funeral for James Jackson "Jim" Cook, 84, Georgetown Community farmer, were held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Johnson-Moore Chapel with C.J. Graves of Sherman and Bob Monroe, Denison Church of Christ minister, officiating. Burial was in Georgetown. He was born at Meridian April 15, 1876 and married Miss Gertrude Flipping there August 12, 1901. He moved to this area 44 years ago. Cook was a Methodist. Survivors include his wife; a son, James Cook of Georgetown; six daughters, Mrs. Florence Clontz, Mrs. Lottie Mosier, Miss Dadie Cook, Mrs. Fannie Perdue, and Mrs. Jesse Travis, all of Georgetown, and Mrs. Ruth Elmore of Muskogee, Oklahoma; three brothers, Joe Cook of Denison, Jess of Pottsboro, and Luther of Georgetown; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Johnson-Moore Funeral Chapel for Mrs. James J. Cook, resident of the Georgetown vicinity, who died at a Denison hospital Sunday at 9:17 p.m. R.E. Monroe and J.C. Graves officiated. Internment was in the Georgetown Cemetery. The former Nora G. Flipping was born Auggust 1, 1886, in Glenrose, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Flipping. She married Cook at Meredian, Texexas, August 12, 1901. Her husband, a retired farmer, died in 1960. She was a member of the Willow Springs Church of Christ. Surviving are a son, James of Missiouri; six daughters, Mrs. Florence Clontz, Mrs. Lottie Mosier, Mrs. Jessie Travis, Miss Dade Cook, and Mrs. Fannie Perdue, all of Pottsboro, and Mrs. Ruth Elmore of Muskogee; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
