Opal Fowler 27 October 1897 - 30 July 1983 Juanita Montgomery 18 August 1917 - 5 June 2009 Paul Montgomery 21 April 1910 - 19 March 1980 Paul Montgomery 1910 - 1980 Sergeant US Army WWII Herald Democrat June 8, 2009 SHERMAN - Juanita Fowler Montgomery, 91, of Sherman passed away Friday, June 5, 2009 at Texoma Healthcare Center. Under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home, graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Georgetown Cemetery, just north of Pottsboro. Pastor Louella K. Williams of Virginia Point United Methodist Church will officiate. Juanita was born Aug. 18, 1917 in Denison, the daughter of L.B. (Labe) and Opal O'Dell Fowler. She attended Denison schools and in 1941 married Paul Montgomery in Sherman. Prior to retirement in 1975, together, Juanita and Paul spent a combined 32 years in the grocery business. For 20 plus of those years they owned and operated Montgomery Grocery on the corner of Ricketts and Birge streets in Sherman. After 39 years of marriage, Paul passed away in 1980. Clubs and organizations were always a part of Juanita's life. She was a Charter Member of the Sherman Quilt Club, a lifetime member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary and also a member of the Sundowners Home Extension Club. Many years and hours of hard work and dedication were given to the leadership roles that Juanita held with these worthy groups. Most recently she enjoyed being a part of Texoma Healthcare's Red Hat Club. She was also a member of Fairview Baptist Church and was blessed to be able to attend their services at Texoma Healthcare. Surviving are her daughter Connie Montgomery and granddaughter Kelly Kristin Cassell, both of Denison; brothers J.T. Fowler and Hollis Fowler both of Denison; and sister Katherine Burke of Sherman; also several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers James H. Fowler and Billy Carl Fowler and sisters, June Fowler, Kathleen Marr and Jean Bankhead. The family will receive friends from 9 -10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9 prior to the service at Waldo Funeral Home. The family would especially like to thank the incredible nurturing given by some "very special" caregivers at Texoma Healthcare and the "caring when it matters most" by Home Hospice of Grayson County. Special thanks to Pam Wilson, CNA for her untiring love and care shown to mother. Also, Helen Ritchie, Mary Ellen Bader, Clara Moore and Pat Keffer who never gave up, and the relatives and friends who by word and deed went the "extra mile."
