Larry Lee  Burns

3 October 1958 - 23 November 1988


On Monday, June 3, 2019 the Lord called Ray Lee Burns, 83, of Denison to his Heavenly home.
Ray was born May 25, 1936 in Pottsboro, Texxas "at the bottom of Lake Texoma," son of George and Vera Lewis Burns.  He graduated from Denison High School.  Ray worked as a Service Manager at Highpoint for 40 years.  He was also a member of the Denison Elks.  One of his proudest accomplishments was helping buildf the Saint Lawrence Seaway in New York where he met his first wife.  On February 1, 1992, Ray married the love of his life, Ann Davis, who cared for him like no one else could have.
Ray never met a stranger and if you met him, you knew immediately the witty character he was.  He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.  He made many life-long friends playing domines, a game he loved.  Over the years, he was a member of Hagerman Baptist Church and College Blvd Baptist Church.  Ray's biggest joy was spending time with family and friends.  He kept his family close by at the "Burns Compound".
Ray leaves behind his beloved family: wife of 27 years, Ann Burns, of Denison; sons, Jimmy "Bo" Burns and wife, Lily, of Denison; Bryan Burns and wife, Tracy, of Denison; daughter, Sharlote Cathey and husband, Marshall, of Denison; sons, Ricky Potter of Denison; Randy Potter of Landon, Texas; Robbie Seagroves of Howe, Texas; 16 grandchildren - Gemma Purser, Arial Dawson, Amy Williams, Justin Burns, Hunter Cooper and Kensler Cathey; Ricky and Dustin Potter; Jason and Matthew Potter; Logan Seagroves; CJ Jones; Seth Sykes; Kalli and Aidan Potter; 13 great-grandchildren; twin brother, Clay Burns and wife, Janice, of Pottsboro, Texas; and sister, Geneva Walker of Denison, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Beverly Burnham Burns Gill; son, Larry Burns; brother, Earnestine "Red" Burns; and sisters, Jane Sloan and Evelyne Deaton.
Funeral service for Ray was held Saturday morning, June 8. 2019 at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bobby Hancock and Pastor Robert Richardson officiating.  Following the service, Ray was cremated according to his wishes and at a later date was be laid to rest at Georgetown Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, Denison, Texas.


Denison - On July 13, 2021 Jimmy Dean " Bo" Burns of Denison, Texas, surrounded by his loving family, slipped away to his Lord and Savior.  He fought the good fight, never giving up until he was called to.
Bo is survived by his wife of 1 year, Jen Li; daughters, Gemma and husband, Johnny, Jr., Purser of Bells; and Ariel Dawson and husband, James, of Denison; 6 grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Rylee, Preston, Zoey, Mackenzie, Remington, and Gauge; brother, Bryan Burns and wife, Tracy; sister, Sharlote Cathey and husband, Marshall; mother, Ann Burns; step-brothers, Ricky Potter, Randy Potter and Robbie Seagroves, all of Denison; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Bo is preceded in death by his father, Ray Burns; his mother; Beverly Gill; and brother, Larry Burns.
Bo was born March 15, 1960 and grew up in Pottsboro and Denison where he graduated from Pottsboro High School.  He began working for Leon Derebery,  "Derebery Marine" in 1988 where he spent many hours on Lake Texoma.  He was an avid hunter, loved to fish and be outside tinkering with something.
Services were held at Georgetown Baptist Church Saturday morning, July 17, 2021 with Rev. Keith Taylor officiating.   Burial was at Georgetown Cemetery beside his brother at a later date.
