CANNON TEAM WINS The Cannon baseball team defeated the Sherman Telephone team at Van Alstyne Monday evening by a 6-4 count. The game was to be played at Cannon on Friday of last week but was rained out and was transferred to Van Alstyne on account of muddy grounds. The Telephone team filled the bases time and again, only to have the veteran Simpson tighten up and spoil their hopes of victory. The game was a clean hard-fought contest and was witnessed by a large crowd. Jones pitched for the Telephone team in place of Presley who was suffering from a sprained muscle. Cannon will play a return game here in about two weeks and it is needless to say that these two old rivals will draw a large crowd.
