March 20, 1924 Page 1 W. W. Welch of Osyka, Mississippi, formerly of this section will deliver a lecture at the grammar school auditorium this Thursday night. He will be remembered by the older citizens of this section as a school teacher at Orangeville and a teacher in the Halsell School at Savoy, at one time one of the leading schools of North Texas. Mr. Welch left here 36 years ago for Montana and served that state two terms as superintendent of Public Instruction. It is said he was the first Democrat elected for Public Office in Montana. He spent over two years in Alaska and has traveled extensively. Mr. Welch will use as his subject tonight "Success and Failure" He has lectured in every state in the Union and his old time friends here are glad of the opportunity to hear him. Mr. Welch is a cousin of Mrs. W.F. Sanders and is visiting the Sanders home here. *Orangeville Community" is east of Whitewright, across the Fannin County Line.
