The Whitewright Sun Thursday, April 7, 1932 pg. 1 The Whitewright Sun Thursday, November 10, 1932 pg. 1 JOHN REEVES MEMBER OF SCHOOL BOARD John Reeves was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Gilmore Webster on the Whitewright School Board Tuesday afternoon. Mr. Webster moved to Huntsville several weeks ago. His term would have expired in 1935, he having been elected last spring for a 3-year term. Holidays for Thanksgiving and Christmas were set by the board. Two days will be given for Thanksgiving to enable members of the faculty to attend the State Teachers annual meeting, which will be held in Ft. Worth November 25 and 26. The schools will dismiss on December 22 for the Christmas holidays and will resume work on Tuesday, January 2. At a recent meeting of the board the secretary was authorized to get estimates on replacement cost of the school buildings. G.L. Baugher, builder and contractor, was employed to get up the estimates. The estimates were presented to the board at Tuesday's meeting. They were made for the purpose of determining the amount of fire insurance to carry on the buildings. The insurance had not been decreased since the cost of materials and labor had decreased, and according to the estimates furnished by Mr. Baugher more insurance was being carried than necessary for replacement of the buildings. About $10,000 in insurance was cancelled, which will be a nice saving. The estimates showed that this amount could be cancelled and still sufficient insurance would be in force to protect the school system from loss by fire.
