December 26, 1919 With the closing of school Friday afternoon, several of the school teachers left the city to spend the holidays. Miss Riley went to Austin and Miss Johnson to Waco. Miss Morrow went to Howe and Principal Cantrell is also away for the holidays. On accounty of the scarcity of school teachers, County Superintendent Acton authorizes us to announce that a special examination for teachers will be held at Sherman January 2nd and 3rd. The Fifth, Sixth and Seventh Grade teachers and pupils of the public school had a full-fledged Christmas tree program in the Seventh Grade room Friday afternoon. The tree was in full Yuletide uniform and was weighted down with friendship tokens. Other departments of the school visited the tree-room and "said it was good." The exercises inaugrated the holiday festivities in Whitewright. Whitewright School History Susan Hawkins © 2024 If you find any of Grayson CountyTXGenWeb links inoperable, please send me a message. |
