A PLEASANT EVENING
At the Residence of J.H. LeTellier's

The pleasant social given to the students and friends of the South Sherman Institute last night at the residence of J.H. LeTellier, South Walnut street, was an occasion long to be remembered by those who were present.  The grounds were brilliantly illuminated by Chinese lanterns hung in an artistic manner to the trees and other beautiful shrubbery.  The occasion was one which, with all its pleasures, was not without its little heart aches, for it markes the last gathering of many who had been school mates for the year.  The following are the prizes and medals awarded:

Elegantly bound copy of Whittier's poems, presented by Donaldson & Hopson to Claude Long for proficiency in mental arithmetic.
Silver medal for improvement in writing was won by Miss Ivonia Upton, of Gainesville, Hugh Perry and H.L. Hall committee of award.
Silver medals given by Prof. J.G. Campbell for excellence in georgraphy were awarded to Miss Katie King, Miss Annie Lou Weems, and Robert Caruthers, presentation speech by Don A. Bliss.
Forbes' Gold Medal, for written arithmetic, was humorously presented by Jake Levy to Iron Totten.
J.R. Steedman, gold medals for spelling and punctuality, was awarded to Misses Annie Taylor and Dettie Goldsby, of B.I.T., and presented by Don A. Bliss.
Silver medals in primary department werewon by Sidney Oslin and Katie King, presented by Dr. J. Moore.
Principal's gold medal, for merit, was awarded Willie Rudasill, and was presented by J.R. Cole.
The Linz Bro's gold medal, for general excellence, was accorded Miss Cordie Hearne, and presented by Frank Dillard, in his usual happy style.
Miss Cordie Hearne was declared a full graduate of Sherman Private School, with title of M.A.
