The
first Sherman High School was built in 1898 at the corner of Travis St.
and Mulberry St. This building burned in 1907. The school
building pictured above was erected in 1908 and was used as the high
school until 1917. A third building was erected at the southeast
corner of Crockett St. and King St.
During the late 1960s, the building was used as an annex for Sherman High School which was housed in the present Piner Junior High School building located on the southwest corner of Pecan St. and Rusk St. When a new high school was constructed, the building pictured above was used as a junior high school. The above building was sold in 1929. The Marr's Texaco Service Station was built on the site.
