ISD Trustees Approve Layne Demolition Bids"

The Denison School Board gave its
approval Tuesday to the low bidder for the demolition of Layne Elementary
Schools.
According to meeting
documents, the low bidder is Total Demolition Inc. with a bid of
$54,500, which includes a $10,000 contingency. For asbestos abatement, the low
bidder is 1 Priority Environmental Service with a bid of $14,850. Assistant
Superintendent Lee McNair said the District has committed $300,000 of its fund
balance to the demolition of Layne and Golden Rule, which won’t be demolished
until after it closes next year. Asbestos abatement at Layne is expected to
begin Monday.
