Whitesboro News-Record Friday, August 19, 1938 pg. 1 WPA OFFERS AID ON SCHOOL PLANT U.S. Allots $47,237 for New Building The United States government has agreed to furnish more than half the cost of building an up-to-date school building in Whitesboro. R.F. Daniels, area supervisor for the WPA with headquarters at Sherman, has received notice that President Roosevelt has approved the local improvement project. Work orders can be secured and the project started at an early date if the sponsors signify intention to go ahead with the work and provide the needed funds. The project calls for demolishing an old school building, repairing the grade school building, installing walks, play courts and athletic fields and generally beautifying and improving the grounds. A total of $47,237 is alloted by the government to the project, provided the Whitesboro school district supplies only $37, 087.
