Ball Games
The boys and girls basketball team regrets very much to say that the season of basketball is almost over.  There have been some wonderful games this season.  The girls have thus far played five games, the first with Tioga, in which the Whitesboro queens were victorious. The second game was between the "Little Queens" (second team) and the Center first team in which the "Little Queens" lost.
The big game of the season was between the Sherman High School Kitts and Whitesboro queens.  In this game some real playing took place with Gladys Garvin romping off with high score honors.  The game resulted in a score of 43-34 in favor of the Sherman Kitts.
The next big game of the season was with Van Alstyne.  In this game some outstanding workouts were performed.  The V's shook their heads as they watched the W's roll that large egg into the basket.  In this game Whitesboro did a great job of substituting, but in spite, the W's walked into victory with a score of 27-28.
The last game was a return game with TIoga on the Pilot Poin gym floor.  Some splendid pass work was performed but unfortunately the home girls got beat, 19-29.
Let's not leave our boys out, for which each game the girls had the boys made it a double header.  They haven't been very successful; however, they never gave up.  Their game with Van Alstyne wasn't a bad one, although they did get beat by a score of 30-14.
The game between the Whitesboro Independents and the Pilot Point All-Stars resulted in a score of 13-18 in favor of All-Stars.  Had the game with Tioga last Friday night lasted a few minutes longer the Independents would have been victorious; but it wasn't so bad after all; they just got beat by three points.  The game was the last of the season for the boys.
In spite of defeats, in all respects, both girls and boys have shone great sportsmanship.
The coaches of these teams, Miss Eva Clara Stafford, girl coach, and Mr. Liberman, boy's coach, are due thanks and congratulations on their efforts put forth for the sake of their teams.  The girl's coach is now striving for and planning a way in which she can help first and second teams get sweaters.
The girls' basketball team wishes to extend thanks to Mrs. Wells and many others who have been so kind to furnish cars to take them to and from the games.---Janie Bridges.
