The Welch Community was located 3.5 miles south of Collinsville, about halfway between Collinsville and Tioga.  Sherrid Welch donated the land for the school building to be built on.  The school was located on Hog Town Road just east of the creek, between Hwy. 377 and Welch Road on the north side of the road.  The school was sometimes referred to as "Hog Town School".

In this farming community often many children would have to help pick cotton until late
in the Fall.

One teacher would teach alone until almost all of the children enrolled.  Then a second teacher would help for three or four months.

Some teachers of Welch School were: Mollie Williams, Mr. Longley, Audrey Hunter, Annie Frances, E.A. Miller, Lois McAllister, Bess Pruitt, Lydia Cobbler, Bess Rogers, Susie Dunn, Cleo Davis, George Curtis, Opal Curtis, Lorena Puckett, Mrs. Shumate, Pauline Bates, Oma Lee Scoggin, and T.A. Lively.

Welch School consolidated with Collinsville School District in 1941.
