Warrens
Bend School, located in Cooke Co., Texas was established in 1888 with
John Brown as the first teacher. The school, saloon and crops were
washed away in the 1908 flood. A second flood came in 1914, causing
most of the families in the area to relocate on higher ground.
The school was consolidated with Sivells Bend Common School in 1939. The Warrens Bend school building was torn down and soon there was no evidence of the school. This area of land was part of the 56,000 acres that was purchased by the U.S. Government to build Camp Howze in 1942. Remembering School Days edited by Jerry B. Lincecum and Peggy A.
