Its elegant 3-story building, modern appointments, strong faculty, comprehensive and thorough course of instruction, excellent dormitory facilities, and exceptionally fine social training, giving it great favor with its fostering denomination and the general public. Under the presidency of W. C. Parham, a custom began with the celebration of Washington's birthday with a party. The ladies dressed as Martha Washington and the men came dressed as George Washington. The next two presidents were Rev. E. D. Pitts, followed by Dr. I. M. Onins. By 1886, the school's debt was over $11,000 which forced the college to suspend operation. source: An Illustrated History of Grayson County Texas by Graham Landrum, 1960, pg.100 North Texas Female College in Sherman became Kidd-Key Conservatory.
