March 31, 1966 pg. 4 BUILDING FOR SALE The Whitewright School Board will take sealed bids on the Negro school building, a 2-room wooden frame building 28'x56', with a small room on the back of the buildings. Bids may be given to Mr. Dick Walker, president of Whitewright School Board at Walker Pharmacy, or S.T. Montgomery, superintendent, at his office in the High School building. Bids will be received until noon on Tueday, April 5, 1966. The Board reserved the right to reject any or all bids. Building must be removed from premises withing 90 days unless time is extended. The Whitewright Sun July 21, 1966 pg. 1 SCHOOL BUILDING MOVED TO PARK The Whitewright Chamber of Commerce has moved the old Negro school building to the American Legion Park. It is to be remodeled for use as a community building for use of the Whitewright trade area. The Whitewright Sun Thursday, August 4, 1966 pg. 1 C of C Discusses Several Projects at Meeting At a general meeting of the Chamber of Commerce Friday night in Firemen's Hall, location of a new post office building was the principal subject of discussion. . . The chamber also got a report on the old Negro school building. It has been moved to the American Legion Park for use as a community building by the people of the Whitewright area. Clint Hennig, chamber president, said funds will be needed to put the building in shape for use.
