In 1930, Allie Rich was hired as the teacher of Mounger School with a monthly salary of $75. Even though there was
enough money to pay an $80 salary, one trustee said, "No woman is worth that much money".

Allie Rich walked to school, served as janitor, and taught students in eight grades.
