Mrs.
Kate Wakefield is principal of the Jefferson School and a teacher of
most excellent worth. She has a diploma from Haverling Academy at Bath,
N.Y., and another from the New State University of New York. For two
and a half years she taught in the schools of Denver, Colo. On account
of the ill health of her husband, John Wakefield, who afterwards died
in Texas, she came to the Lone Start State in 1893 and one year later
began teaching in the public schools of Sherman, being a teacher in the
Franklin School for six years. Her work as a teacher was of such
splendid character that last year she was elected principal of
