In the early 1900s, Ida had a one-room school building with a two-room building constructed later.  Eventually, a three-room school building housed grades one through eleven.  The building was also used for community fund raising projects such as pie suppers and box suppers.

Water was carried from a nearby well until the erection of the 'wash house'. The 'wash house' was a small building where students could drink from fountains and wash their hands from a trough that contained the overflow.

Some of the teachers remembered are:
  • Annie Slagle
  • Mr. Helm
  • Mrs. Charlie Key
  • Miss Know
  • Mrs. Davis
  • Miss Brown
  • Annie Pierce
  • Vera Vaden
