"Then Abram removed his tent, and came and dwelt in the plain of Mamre, which is in Hebron, and built there an altar unto the Lord."
Genesis 13:18 KJV

The community, church and school were named after the Biblical city of Hebron.  The Hebron community is located north of Bells, Texas. The school building was located on the S. B. Sivells Survey No.1106

The one-room school house was built on land given by the Bivins family. Later, it became a two-room school. Initially, water was carried from the Williams well, later replaced by a well dug on the school ground.

The building was used for community get-togethers and school activities. On Saturday night, Spelling matches were held with both young and old choosing sides.

Some teachers remembered are:
  • Julia Smith
  • Homer Bruce
  • Verna Cobb
  • Margarite Stalling
  • Claud Hix, Helen Stroud
  • Henry Stroud

Some trustees remembered are:
  • Jim Shaw
  • Will Fleming
  • John Milliron

On the east side of the school grounds, boys played baseball. Girls played croquet on the west side.

The Hebron school building was moved to Bells and used as their gym. Hebron school consolidated with Bells.
