Granddaughter of the late Bob Holsonbake, Grayson College ex-student, Miss Holsonbake was valedictorian of her high school class this year with a four-year average of 94.96. Favors were given the other five scholarship applicants, including Lou Ann Browning of Gainesville, Bobby Gentry of Trenton and Dorris Ann Wallace, Alice Ayres and Robert DeBerry, all of Whitewright. Special recognition was accorded the class of 1896, represented by Mrs. Nettie Pennington Groves of Denison, and the class of 1906, represented by J. Maurice McMillin of Dallas. A member of the first graduating class, 1889, Mrs. W.B. (Benetta Connelly) Duncan of Austin, was present. Winners of the cake contest, judged by Mrs. Kay Kimbell of Fort Worth and Mrs. Alberta Everheart of Denison were: Mrs. J. Frank Benton of Fort Worth, first prize; Mrs. Josephine Cook Pierce of Whitewright, second, and Mrs. Frank Roberts of Pottsboro, third. Joe Harper of Gilmer and Dr. Edwin O.
