Friday, May 16, 1919 pg. 5 Eureka School at Preston Bend closed last Tuesday. Preston has always been one of the best district schools in the county. One of the features of the closing was the awards for drawing Texas maps. Russell Kennedy won first place, Marie Brennan and Rachel Jackson were tied for second place. The judges of maps were Messrs. G.W. Acton, John F. Stowe, and J.A. McCampbell. Miss Gladys Noble is principal of Eureka school with Misses Fay Noble and Willie Cockburn assistants.
