Enterprise,
a neighboring community of Hagerman, conducted a school, Enterprise No.
2, in 1906. Located southwest of Pottsboro on the west
side of Enterprise Road, between Wright Road & Old Quail Run
Road. The schoolhouse was located in the northeast corner of Wood
& Buckle survey No. 1373. (Lincecum, Jerry and Peggy A. Renshaw. Remembering School Days. Sherman, Texas, c2005.)
The Enterprise School District #80 was about eleven miles north and west of Sherman. It was located in a prosperous community. The first school was called "Cottage Hill" and, also, "Possum Trot". When the school building was moved to the Bill Crow place during the mid 1880s, it was called Enterprise. Around 1920, the school building was moved again to the Sam Brown farm where it remained until its consolidation with Pottsboro. The Enterprise school building sat vacant for several years. It was destroyed by fire of an unknown origin around 1941.
