Elmont, Texas Van Alstyne Leader
April 24, 1919 Elmont School Closed The Elmont school closed last Friday and in the forenoon the pupils
and patrons gathered at the school house and had a very delightful time.
Dinner was spread on the ground, a large crowd was present, and all enjoyed
themselves immensely. In the afternoon the children went over to "Lover's
Leap" and spent the evening kodaking.
The school was taught by Prof. Ledgerwood and Mrs. Walker, and they were asked to accept another year, but Mr. Ledgerwood informed us that very likely he would teach elsewhere next year. This was the third year he taught the Elmont school, and he has given splendid service and almost universal satisfaction. The school had an enrollment of 85 pupils the past session.
