Friday, August 2, 1878 The salary of the Principal of the Public School was reduced from $125 to $100. Salaries of lady teachers remain as heretofore, $50 a month. Prof. Somerville was retained as Principal of the Public School, and the following assistant teachers were chosen: Miss Ella L. Coleman Mrs. Mary Phillips Miss C.M. Davis Miss Florence B. Moore Mrs. M.F. Brown Mrs. Christie. Mr. Mordant was chosen teacher of the colored school. Councilman Tone submitted charges against Prof. Somerville of incompetency, which he said he was prepared to prove.
