The
Dugan Chapel School was located east of Denison and north of Bells.
Land was given by G. C. Dugan. The first school was a one
teacher - one room building. The second school building was built
beside the original one and had two rooms, a hall, and two
teachers. This building burned during the Easter holiday. While
the third building was being erected, school was held in a vacant
house. Dugan Chapel school was consolidated with the Bells Independent
School District in the late 1930s.
Dugan School was named for the early pioneer family that moved from Missouri to Texas in 1835. The school building was located on the Daniel Dugan Survey No.327.
