July 25, 1972 AREA SETTLED LONG BEFORE BELLS STARTED Bells, Texas had a school named Corneilison. Miss Jennie Lanham was the first teacher. Since the building was too small, many of the students were taught in classes held in vacant buildings. In 1878, a new school was constructed in Northwest Bells. Miss Lanham continued to teach and, eventually, two or three assistants were added. Schools Susan Hawkins © 2024 Grayson County TXGenWeb |
