The Denison Daily News Thursday morning, August 28, 1879 pg. 4 The News received a call on Wednesday evening from Mr. F.M. Caylor, of Cherry Mound. Miss Amanda Nixon, sister of Mrs. M.T. Brown, sufferer by the fire Tuesday evening, has been teaching school at Cherry Mound, and the citizens of the neighborhood show the esteem they have for her by starting a subscription for her sister's benefit. Mr. Caylor headed the paper with $5.00. The amount subscribed for Mrs. Brown was about $320 last evening and we trust it will be raised to $500 today. Mr. Hull also should receive some assistance as he is nearly destitute, $10 probably being the full value of everything that he saved from the flames. He is working at his trade, but needs a little help to relieve his present pressing necessities.
