 The Sunday Gazetteer Sunday, January 17, 1897 pg. 4 LOCAL CONDENSATIONS Thursday, January 14, 1897 - Lumau Carpenter, who is teaching school at Cherry Mound, eight miles east of the city, was arrested today by Deputy Constable Rice for alleged assault on a boy. The charge grows out of a whipping Carpenter is said to have administered to one of his pupils. The child's father swore out the warrant.
