The
name of the school was derived from the many cedar trees in the area.
Cedar School District was located between Luella and Whitemound
Districts. The school building was in the I. Trebino Survey
No.1196.
Cedar Academy was organized in 1871 and the building was located on land donated by D.H. Dumas. The school district later became the Cedar Public School. Cedar Public School consolidated with Tom Bean School in 1937. Some of the students who attended Cedar School were: Ricard Bell Carr John Graham Vestal Children of Hannah Jane Burk - David Ray, Van Ebb, Nan Vestal Lovell, Tommie Silas, Cecil. The first teacher of the unorganized school was Col. Cole. Ida Reynolds taught in 1907. Remembering School Days edited by Jerry B. Lincecum and Peggy A.
