Thursday, March 31, 1932 pg 8 CANAAN PUPILS WIN AT BELLS SCHOOL MEET At the an nual school meet held at Bells recently, the following pupils from the Canaan school were among the winners: Second grade spelling: Roscoe Stillwell, 2nd place. Second grade arithmetic: Roscoe Stillwell, 2nd place; Sophia Nell Smith, 3rd. Third grade spelling: Irene Mitchell, 3rd place. Third grade arithmetic: Marie Terry, 3rd place. Fourth grade arithmetic: Charles Howard, 1st place. Fourth grade spelling: Charles Howard, 2nd place; Elma Hopper, 3rd. Sixth grade arithmetic: Billy Smith, 1st place Sixth grade spelling: Bessie Ryon, 2nd place; Sarah Joe Ayres, 3rd. Texas History: Billy Smith, 1st; Mildred Smith, 2nd. Schools represented were Bells, Savoy, Tom Bean, Canaan, Hebron, Pink Hill, Calamus, Dugan Chapel, and Range Creek.
